A correct thread can hide a poor location
The sensor may screw into the vessel successfully while its tip remains recessed in a long socket. Product can remain in that socket after the main vessel drains. The switch then indicates a real local wet condition even though operators call the tank empty.
Use a section drawing
Measure the vessel wall, coupling, adapter and sensor projection as an assembly. Include the sealing face as the dimensional reference. Confirm that the required tip position is reached without exceeding mechanical or process limits.
An extended probe is not just a longer version of the standard assembly. Check the correct order code, support needs and temperature-related installation instructions.
Test drainage and repeatability
During commissioning, compare the switch state with direct evidence of the local medium condition. Observe the return to empty after several drain cycles. If a pocket remains wet, consider the mounting geometry or an alternative location. Lowering sensitivity may trade a nuisance indication for a failure to detect genuine product later.
What to confirm for your application
- Installed section and sealing reference
- Actual sensing-tip position
- Local drainage and residue
- Extended-version limits
- Wet/dry behavior after repeated cycles
