What the sensor needs to do

A stagnant bridge or packed deposit can remain at a wall while the active material flow has stopped.

Installation and integration

Protect the sensing assembly from direct material impact when the mechanical design requires it. Review the nozzle depth and buildup pattern so the tip sees the working volume rather than a wall pocket. Ask for mechanical loading limits and dust-area approvals when applicable.

A representative test plan

Use the lowest bulk density, driest and wettest expected conditions. Test material around the tip after the hopper is otherwise empty, and check whether vibration or material movement changes the state. Do not infer powder suitability from a liquid demonstration.

A common selection mistake

Treating all powders as equivalent or ignoring the structural force of a moving granular bed. Sensing compatibility and mechanical suitability are separate checks.

• Particle size, bulk density and moisture range
• Bridging, caking, abrasion and flow behavior
• Hopper drawing and location relative to filling
• Dust classification and mechanical load information
