What the sensor needs to do

Buying sensors by nominal thread and voltage alone creates mechanical fits that may still be electrically or operationally incompatible.

Installation and integration

Define a bill of materials that includes sensor, adapter, gasket, cable, protection and any interface module. Reserve space for mounting tools, cable bends and replacement access. Keep the approved drawing with the machine documentation and verify it against the supplied items.

A representative test plan

Test the unit both on the bench and with the actual machine input. Record normal operation, empty state, startup, power loss and reconnect behavior. For IO-Link versions, define the master, device description, parameter backup and the recovery procedure.

A common selection mistake

Assuming that two nominally similar sensors share pin assignments, switching polarity, current capacity or default startup behavior.
