Start from the intended switching height
For side mounting, the local liquid surface crosses the sensing region as the tank fills or drains. For top mounting with an extended probe, the installed length establishes the threshold. Use the correct drawing reference; the external body position is not necessarily the switching position.
Account for the real vessel
Agitators, inlet jets, internal coils and sloped bottoms can change local conditions. Avoid a location where splashing repeatedly wets a sensor that is intended to indicate a stable high level. Also avoid a low pocket that remains full when the transfer pump loses usable suction.
With bulk solids, a local surface may slope or leave a void. A single side-mounted switch may not describe the average fill state.
Review service access
Leave room to install and remove the connector, inspect the process fitting and withdraw the sensor. A mounting that works on an empty skid drawing can become inaccessible after insulation, guards and adjacent piping are fitted. Confirm installation instructions for the exact model before final fabrication.
What to confirm for your application
- Required trip height and drawing reference
- Local turbulence or product flow
- Drainage and residue
- Clearance for removal and connector access
- Manufacturer-approved orientation
