One temperature figure is not enough
Record normal, startup, cleaning and temporary peak temperatures, including duration. Electronics ambient temperature may differ from process temperature, especially near a hot vessel or under insulation. Check the complete pressure/temperature envelope for the chosen connection and construction.
The product may change as well
Viscosity often changes with temperature. A product that drains easily during hot production can leave a thick coating after cooling. Some products crystallize, solidify or separate during a shutdown.
A successful hot immersion test therefore does not prove reliable restart after an overnight stop. Reproduce the transition if it matters to the process.
Choose a maintainable configuration
Extended or cooling-neck constructions may help meet a temperature requirement but also alter installation length and access. Confirm the drawing and support requirements. Keep the sensor body within its permitted ambient conditions and do not assume that a high process-temperature option allows the whole device to be heated to that temperature.
What to confirm for your application
- All operating and cleaning temperatures
- Peak duration and ambient exposure
- Cold-start viscosity and deposits
- Correct sensor construction
- Simultaneous pressure and temperature limits
