POINT LEVEL SENSOR / PRACTICAL ADVANTAGE
Use the short probe without creating a hidden pocket
A compact Point Level Sensor can improve the fit of a hygienic retrofit when the adapter exposes the tip correctly. Reviewing the nozzle and seal together helps preserve drainage and cleanability. The installation should let the sensing point follow the real product state after emptying.
Draw the assembly in section
Show the vessel or pipe wall, nozzle, adapter, gasket, sensing face and flow path. Mark insertion length and the location of the sealing surface. A catalogue’s overall length may not describe how far the sensing tip reaches into the process. Compare the assembled drawing with the existing installation rather than comparing only nominal thread size.
Ask what the pocket retains
A recessed region may retain liquid, foam or product residue after the main vessel or pipe has drained. This can produce a persistent covered indication while the useful process volume is empty. It can also complicate cleaning. Consider both detection behavior and the plant’s hygienic design requirements; improving one does not automatically establish the other.
Review mounting and cleaning together
Check whether the selected orientation supports drainage and whether the cleaning process can reach the relevant surfaces. Use the specified adapter and seal arrangement for a hygienic design. Do not add spacers, improvised gaskets or sealant to compensate for a dimensional mismatch without an approved review. Such changes may alter tip exposure, seal compression and pressure integrity.
Validate the replacement in its real geometry
A successful immersion test does not reproduce a recessed nozzle. Test covered, drained and cleaned conditions using a representative mounting arrangement where practical. Record how the tip was positioned and what residue remained. Confirm the actual supplied parts and the installation instructions before release. Any required hygienic approval must apply to the selected assembly and its installation conditions.
What to keep in the project record
- Section drawing and active-tip location
- Drainage and residue retention after emptying
- Specified adapter, seal and cleaning access
- Mounted testing and configuration-specific documentation
