The metal rating is not the seal rating
A sensor housing may tolerate a process condition that the selected gasket does not. Review the seal material against the medium, concentration, cleaning chemicals and exposure time. Consider startup and cleaning as well as normal production.
Do not assume that an available material option is included in a standard quotation. Ask for the exact seal designation and whether it is supplied with the sensor or adapter.
Match the geometry
A correct polymer in the wrong size or section can leak or create a retention point. Confirm the sealing surface, groove and assembly instructions. Threads that engage mechanically do not guarantee that the sealing faces meet as intended.
Plan replacement and traceability
Record the installed seal code with the sensor documentation. Keep compatible replacement parts where maintenance requires them. For controlled applications, preserve material and batch records. A maintenance substitution should be reviewed rather than accepted merely because the gasket looks similar.
