POINT LEVEL SENSOR / PRACTICAL ADVANTAGE
Bring compact detection to a chemically suitable assembly
A Point Level Sensor becomes useful in a chemical duty when every wetted component suits the actual mixture and cleaning exposure. A complete compatibility request helps identify that configuration. The benefit is a small, defined detection package supported by the relevant materials review.
List the actual contact conditions
Include production liquid, cleaning solution, rinse, sterilization medium and any occasional flush. State the concentration range, normal and maximum temperature, duration, pressure and frequency of exposure. Trade names can conceal a mixture of chemicals; provide enough composition information for the compatibility review or agree a confidential technical exchange where needed.
Review every wetted part
The sensing tip, metal body, adapter and seal may use different materials. A positive result for one part does not approve the assembly. Surface finish and mechanical stress may also matter. Confirm whether the quoted material is the standard configuration or a specific option. Material documentation should identify the supplied parts rather than a visually similar sample.
Keep chemical resistance separate from other requirements
Chemical compatibility does not establish hygienic approval, pressure rating, electrical suitability or sensing performance. A material can survive a fluid while the fluid’s response remains unsuitable for the required detection. Equally, a successful sensing demonstration does not show long-term resistance to a corrosive cleaning solution. Keep the evidence for these questions separate in the review.
Agree on unresolved conditions
If the available reference data do not cover the actual mixture, temperature or exposure, record the uncertainty instead of assuming universal suitability. The supplier and user may need a representative evaluation or a different material selection. State what evidence will be accepted before purchase and what maintenance observations are required in service. Do not turn a general compatibility table into an unrestricted lifetime guarantee.
What to keep in the project record
- Chemical identities and concentration ranges
- Production, cleaning and occasional exposure cycles
- Materials of tip, body, adapter and seals
- Required evidence and unresolved compatibility points
