Use one duty sheet for both candidates
Start with the medium, control task and installation location. Record normal and cleaning temperatures, pressure including vacuum, connection standard, seal arrangement and electrical input. If one candidate needs an adapter or a new cable, include it explicitly in that candidate’s scope. Do not compare a bare sensor price with an installed assembly price.
Keep similar numbers from hiding different meanings
The supplied Lisen manual distinguishes supply consumption from switching load: typical supply current is 8 mA, maximum supply current is 40 mA, and maximum switching load is 20 mA. None of these is a statement that the sensor has a 4–20 mA analog output. When comparing another product, use the corresponding quantity rather than matching the number alone.
Likewise, repeatability at a point, switching-position tolerance and continuous-level accuracy describe different behaviors. Preserve the source terminology and test the behavior that matters to the process.
Separate standard and requested options
For Lisen, the supplied reference identifies the standard connection and electrical arrangement, while high-temperature or extended-probe constructions require confirmation. For Baumer, identify the family, generation and full order code. A current option on one CleverLevel family should not appear as a default feature on a legacy LBFS quotation.
Ask each offer to identify included sensor, adapter, seal, cable, configuration work and documents. Mark excluded items and unresolved requirements visibly.
Compare evidence and maintainability
Use the same acceptance test for the actual medium and mounting arrangement. Review access for cleaning, availability of the specified spare, settings recovery and required documentation. Where hygienic or hazardous-area evidence is mandatory, verify the exact offered configuration rather than inferring compliance from material or brand.
The result should be a decision record with confirmed facts and open questions. A lower price, a familiar brand or an attractive housing alone does not close those questions.
What to confirm for your application
- Identical duty sheet and acceptance criteria
- Sensor and accessories itemized separately
- Like-for-like electrical and sensing quantities
- Options confirmed by drawing and operating limits
- Order-specific documents and maintenance requirements
