Base the interval on the process
Clean liquid service and a coating or abrasive product need different attention. Use commissioning observations and operating history to establish a useful interval. Watch for changes in draining time, nuisance alarms or a growing difference between sensor indication and the observed process.
Inspect the complete installation
Through the plant’s approved isolation procedure, check the sensing area, fitting, seal, connector and cable. Use cleaning methods compatible with the device and medium. Do not strike the sensing tip or open a sealed instrument for improvised repair.
After maintenance, restore the correct assembly and confirm both wet and empty behavior. A connector reattached incorrectly can create a fault even when the sensor itself is sound.
Keep changes traceable
Record replacements, parameter changes and recurring deposits. Repeated cleaning problems may indicate an unsuitable installation location or sensing principle. Resolve the underlying cause rather than allowing increasingly frequent maintenance to become an unexamined operating assumption.
What to confirm for your application
- Process-based inspection interval
- Compatible cleaning method
- Seal and connector condition
- Functional check after service
- Record of changes and recurring faults
