POINT LEVEL SENSOR / PRACTICAL ADVANTAGE
Make the value of each sensor offer visible
A Point Level Sensor comparison matrix connects quoted features to the actual control task. It makes practical differences in interfaces, accessories and commissioning support easier to assess. Use one common duty description so the result reflects the complete installed package rather than isolated catalogue entries.
Separate mandatory requirements from preferences
Mandatory requirements may include the process envelope, compatible materials, electrical interface and destination-specific documentation. Preferences may include a particular visual indicator or cable length when alternatives are acceptable. Mark unresolved information clearly. A quotation cannot be compared fairly if one supplier assumes the missing conditions and another prices additional scope to cover them.
Use one row for each supply item
List the exact sensor, adapter, seal, cable, programming accessory or interface, spare items and required documents. Identify quantities and the revision of the reference drawing. Keep delivery terms, lead time and warranty separate from technical compliance. Avoid treating a generic family name as a confirmed full order code.
Compare evidence, not adjectives
For each requirement, record the supporting datasheet page, drawing or document and whether it matches the quoted configuration. A claim such as “high temperature” should resolve into a permitted duty cycle and simultaneous pressure limit. “Compatible replacement” should resolve into mechanical, electrical and functional checks. Ask the supplier to state exclusions and assumptions so they can be closed before purchase.
Estimate the installed consequence
Consider any cabinet changes, machining, adapter replacement, commissioning work and spare-parts impact. These costs do not imply that a higher-priced sensor is better; they explain the consequences of each option. Agree on the representative-media test and the acceptance record. Retain the final comparison with the purchase documentation so future replacements use the same basis rather than restarting from an old price email.
What to keep in the project record
- Full order code and complete supply scope
- Evidence against every mandatory requirement
- Explicit assumptions, exclusions and deviations
- Installed changes, acceptance criteria and commercial terms
