Service water, treated water, compatible wastewater and treatment chemicals
What the sensor needs to do
Sludge, scale or biological deposits may persist at the tip after a vessel has emptied.
| Location | Control objective | Selection focus |
|---|---|---|
| Service tanks | High/low indication at fixed positions. | Choose accessible mounting points. |
| Dosing systems | A low-level process permissive. | Evaluate the dosing chemical separately from the water. |
| Small process skids | Compact material-presence feedback. | Confirm the available pipe diameter and electrical interface. |
Installation and integration
Keep the sensing tip out of a stagnant branch that remains full after the main pipe drains. In a dirty service, plan an isolation and cleaning method. If operators need a percentage or remaining volume, keep a suitable continuous transmitter in the design.
A representative test plan
Compare clean water, the expected treated or dirty water, drained residue and any cleaning chemical. Record both the sensor indicator and the PLC state. Simulate loss of power and a disconnected signal in a controlled commissioning procedure.
A common selection mistake
Using a low-mounted wetted sensor as proof that a pump has adequate suction head. Local presence does not establish flow, pressure or the absence of cavitation.
What to include in your inquiry
- Water quality and expected deposits
- Tank or pipe drawing with mounting position
- Alarm or control action at high/low level
- Maintenance access and required documentation
Choose a starting point
Review Lisen electronic point switches for a configured industrial package or Baumer CleverLevel families for a documented manufacturer selection. Selection depends on the exact medium, configuration and duty. A family name alone is insufficient to approve the application.
