Read the output specification carefully
The supplied Lisen and legacy LBFS references list transistor switching outputs and a maximum load current. The output changes between defined states. A 4–20 mA transmitter instead encodes a continuously varying measured value in the loop current. These are different interface types.
Separate supply consumption from load capability
A datasheet may list sensor supply consumption as well as the maximum output load. Those numbers answer different questions. Do not add a high-current relay coil or solenoid merely because the power supply can deliver enough current. The sensor output must be rated for the connected load.
If an interface module is needed, its input, protection and failure behavior become part of the design. Specify it with the sensor package rather than leaving it to an improvised field modification.
Confirm the receiving device
Ask for the PLC or controller input specification. An analog input expecting a current-loop signal will not automatically interpret a transistor switch as a level value. Use an appropriately designed interface and keep the process requirement clear: a point switch still supplies only a threshold state.
What to confirm for your application
- Switching versus analog input requirement
- Sensor output load limit
- Supply consumption and voltage tolerance
- Interface requirements
- Actual wet/dry truth table
