Commissioning checklist for a point level switch

Before energization

Match the nameplate and order code with the approved specification. Inspect the connection, seal, insertion depth and connector. Confirm the supply and wiring from the exact documentation. Complete the plant’s isolation, pressure-boundary and electrical checks before operation.

Verify process states

Test covered and uncovered conditions using the approved procedure. Record the local indication, PLC input and intended process action. Include startup, reset and relevant failure conditions defined by the control philosophy.

Use realistic residue and foam where they can affect operation. A commissioning test should not silently assume a perfectly clean tip after every process cycle.

Create the handover record

Retain settings, test results, drawings and any departures from the original specification. Identify who may change parameters and how replacement devices will be verified. Record maintenance access and inspection requirements. The final handover should allow another competent person to understand what was installed and why it is suitable.
